Our work at Shudehill in the north Manchester NOMA area has encompassed signage, wayfinding and the historical interpretation of the worlds oldest steam mill from 1780. The scheme features our first shared surface street design aptly titled Thread Street and was designed by United Creatives in collaboration with landscape architecture practice Planit.

The paving of Thread Street represents the refining process of producing cotton and is complimented by a series of wayfinding and historical interpretation graphics. Bespoke brass PAVING insets made by United Creatives and Hardscape use a CNC and cold enamel process to echo the makers boiler plates of old.

As well as street signage we developed a refined a unique and controlled way to vectorise photography to allow it to be laser cut into corten steel, in this instance a vintage photograph of a working cotton mill.
